Southern California Hit With Two Earthquakes in Two Days
It was a rocky weekend for many residents of Southern California. Two earthquakes rattled parts of So.Cal, occurring just two days apart from one another.
The first, a 3.6 magnitude quake, occurred on Saturday and struck just after 10:00 AM in the northwest area of Riverside County.
The temblor had a recorded depth of just over 7 miles, and the shaking was felt by residents in Chino Hills, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, and even Valencia.
Seismologist Lucy Jones tweeted about the quake, revealing that this was a “standard” earthquake for Southern California.
“Today’s Mira Loma quake is a very standard SoCal quake. It’s in the Fontana trend – a lineation of quakes running SW from San Bernardino. We think it is a left-lateral fault covered by sediments,” she tweeted.
But Southern California residents were rattled again Sunday morning when a 3.0 shaker struck the Manhattan Beach area around 6:11 AM.
“Airport operations staff are checking all our facilities following a reported #earthquake this morning near Manhattan Beach, but airport operations remain normal and flights are not impacted per the FAA,” LAX tweeted.
Luckily no damage was reported from either earthquake.
