Los Angeles: 4.0 Magnitude Earthquake Rattles the Region
The new year got off to a shaky start for Angelinos! Los Angeles residents were awakened by a 4.0 magnitude earthquake around 2:13 AM on Thursday.
The epicenter of the temblor was centered in the Pacific Ocean, roughly 15 miles out from Port Hueneme and 60 miles west of downtown Los Angeles.
Residents said the quake felt like a quick, but strong jolt – with the shaking felt from Santa Barbara all the way to Marina del Rey. Luckily, no damages or injuries were reported.
If you live in Southern California, it’s important to take all the necessary precautions when it comes to earthquake safety.

Every household should contain an emergency earthquake kit with enough food, water and medicine to last each person and pet in the home for at least three days.
In addition to stocking your home full of emergency supplies, it’s important to have your home inspected for any necessary earthquake retrofits or upgrades.
Most homes in Los Angeles are lacking the necessary earthquake safeguards to withstand the shaking from a large earthquake.
Luckily, seismic retrofitting is an easy and cost-effective solution that will strengthen the structure and the foundation of your home, making the property more resistant to damage from intense side-to-side and back-and-forth shaking that occurs during a large quake.
If you think you own a property that’s in need of earthquake retrofitting, contact Julian Construction today.
